S&B Inc. formed in 1977 as “Stead and Baggerly, Inc” led by Ivan (Ike) Stead and Ralph Baggerly.  The company formed with a vision to provide a regional design and system integration facility for water and wastewater projects in the Pacific Northwest.  Ike and Ralph brought knowledge of measurement and control for water and wastewater processes that was unique to the systems integration marketplace.  In the early days of telemetry and control, Stead and Baggerly provided tone telemetry systems for the communication components and used new devices called “programmable logic controllers” for the master systems.

In 1989, Stead and Baggerly formally changed their name to S&B Inc. as well as  formed a consulting group, Stead & Associates, to address pure design tasks.  Consistent with our 1977 precepts, S&B remains dedicated to the needs of municipal water and wastewater utilities as a system integrator and is a recognized leader in the Pacific Northwest.  Continuing a thirty-two year tradition, S&B Inc. provides personal service to our clients through direct involvement of at least one of the principals for each project.  We have a staff lead by three registered professional engineers.  All of our engineers, designers and software specialists spend their full time in the specialty of telemetry, control, instrumentation, and management information systems.
